Incorporation is a stupid idea on many levels. It's interesting to note that, of the six members of the GPICA Incorporation Subcommittee, four if them were against the Pine Island Plan and tried to stop it. I suspect that they think that incorporation would give them the chance to get elected and open the island to even more development. At least three of them own property which would benefit by weakening of existing Pine Island Plan rules.

Some people with an agenda believe they can create a “government” for the incorporated town that will not result in higher taxes for the property owners of Pine Island – fortunately, the vast majority of Pine Island property owners recognize this attempt as impossible and totally unrealistic. In the March 28 letter to the Editor from Bryan Crane, he wrote that “individuals were trying to undermine, subvert, and thwart the purpose and objectives of the GPICA”, indicating that the incorporation attempt is for the purpose and objective of GPICA, and not the Pine Island residents.
