FROM LEE COUNTY

Monday, Sept. 2, 2019 Dorian update

Lee County update:

County offices and operation return to normal Tuesday, Sept. 3.

* Lee County Emergency Management update:

Emergency Management will continue to monitor Dorian.

Residents should continue to monitor local forecasts.

Beach-goers should be aware there is a high risk of rip currents Wednesday and Thursday.

* Lee County Public Safety update:

As part of the statewide mutual-aid system, Lee County EMS sent a team of 12 with five ambulances to Miami-Dade County.

The county is pleased to be able to accommodate the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Health by providing staging and support for 46 ambulances to be deployed to the east coast if necessary. Those ambulances will begin arriving later tonight from Louisiana.

Lee County EMS is still fully staffed here in Lee County.

* Lee County Solid Waste update:

Operations will resume Tuesday, Sept. 3, as usual for a holiday week.

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the City of Bonita Springs and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day for the entire week beginning Sept. 3. This means that if the regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Tuesday. Tuesday's regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on, the rest of the week through Saturday, Sept. 7. Regular collection schedules resume on Monday, Sept. 9.
