Kids on bikes and trikes will display their Fourth of July spirit at the annual 4th of July Parade sponsored by the American Legion. The Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge is inviting youngsters from 6 to 13 to decorate their bicycles or tricycles using a patriotic theme. Participants can decorate their transportation before the event or once they get in the Winn-Dixie parking lot with supplies donated by the members of the Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781. For the safety of the participants, motorized vehicles (electric or gas powered) are not allowed, and children 10 and under must be escorted by an adult. Don't forget to decorate your bicycle helmet! Parents are welcome to walk with their kids if they like, of course. Participants in the parade will gather in the Winn-Dixie parking lot at 9 a.m.

The parade route will follow Stringfellow Road north to The Center and culminate at the Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781. Following the parade awards will be presented for the winning floats and the most creative bicycle designs at the Elks Lodge. In addition, all of the children participating in the parade will receive a free soda, chips and hot dogs.

For additional information contact the Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781 at 239-283-4388.
