Johnny R Messer II

April 17, 2019
Pine Island Eagle

Johnny came into this world at Lee county hospital in Ft. Myers, FL. two weeks early on July 7th 1985 and he was THE UGLIEST baby I had ever seen! His head was completely round, he was born covered in white vernix from head to toe. He had no fingernails or toenails, his feet were against his shins and his big toes were pointing toward each other! Needless to say, it makes perfect sense why he could climb trees so well! I cried as the doctor assured me that the little white monkey fuzz would come off, his feet would straighten out and his nails would come out like a flower and imbed into place. I admit that I even looked to see if he had a tail!!! He was our ugly duckling.

Johnny was ADHD and always running. If we couldn't find him, we would just looked up and found him in the trees. He started kindergarten at 5 years old at Pine Island Elementary. Two years later we moved to Russellville, Kentucky where he and his two sisters, Lesalyn and Whitney went to school. In 1994 we bought our "Old Kentucky Home" where we remained until he and his sister's graduated high school. Johnny loved his church, Muddy River Baptist Church in Auburn, Kentucky where he was Baptized and saved. He loved singing and was active in the youth ministries. In school, Johnny loved ROTC and his friends, especially Mikey Watkins his best friend and brother. Now, if Johnny called you brother, he meant it. If he said he loved you, he meant it. His heart was true.

He met his first love Jenna at Logan County High School and together had a beautiful son, Jeremy Messer. Jenna and Johnny parted ways but remained friends.

After Johnny graduated he moved back to the island where he fished with his dad and helped his father and stepmother with landscaping and that's when he fell in love with tropical plants.

Johnny settled in his home on Rainbow Drive in Bokeelia where he lived for 10 years. And if you know Johnny, you know he loved BBQ's and party's at Uncle Jeffeys and Aunt Ambers. Lets face it, Johnny WAS the party! Elbows up...butt out! I could tell you SO MANY Johnny stories, but we all would love for you to share your favorite Johnny story with us at his Memorial in Bokeelia FL.

He always had a smile on his handsome face. Johnny LOVED the sunrises, sunsets and the stars at night. He was an extreme March Madness fan and loved his Miami Dolphins!

Johnny also had a scorching "Bromance" with his brother, best friend and coworker Ryan Parr. The "Bromance" even made Beth Parr and Christine jealous.

Ryan and Jeremiah Massey were with Johnny when he passed. We are all grateful for you both and that you were with him. To the Parr family, you are family and to Jeff and Amber, thank you for babysitting him all these years.

Johnny was a hard worker and a perfectionist in everything he did. Do it right the first time! hed say. He loved the water. He practically lived on the water. He worked as a fisherman, landscaper and carpenter and was very good at all of his jobs. Eventually, Johnny was blessed with another beautiful child named Alissa Messer born on August 8th, 2013. His little Princabutt. Alissa looks exactly like Johnny and with a smile, she melted his heart.

In the past year, Johnny met the one woman that changed him forever, Christine Tamalis. They were in the process of renovating a home to buy when the Lord called him home. Johnny intended to marry Christine. Everyone knew that she was the one. He was changing and so was she. They were planning their lives together and even picked the location to marry on Cayo Costa. Cayo Costa means, "The Key by the Coast."

Johnny is survived by his 14 year old son, Jeremy Messer of Kentucky, his 6 year old daughter, Alissa Messer of Cape Coral FL, his Fiance, Christine Tamalis, Father and Step Mother, John Messer and Sally Braund of Bokeelia FL, his Step Father and Mother Randy and Tamalyn Whitehead of Mulberry FL, his older Sister, Lesalyn Messer of Bokeelia FL, and younger Sister, Whitney Messer of San Antonio TX, his Aunt Debra Brock of Missouri, Uncle Jeff and Amber Scott of Bokeelia FL, Cousins Kathy Davis, Samantha Thomas all of Bokeelia FL, Liz Borys of Indiana, Cindy Bostic and Wendy Davis and many more...

Johnny, we love you and you will always be in our hearts and forever missed...

Johnny loved everyone his life touched and after meeting Johnny, no one was ever the same. But one thing everyone can say is...Johnny lived!

Please join us in remembering Johnny on April 28th at 1pm at the end of Bokeelia FL on Pine Island at 8001 Main Street Bokeelia Florida 33922.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
