Osteoarthritis – join us for the journey

December 5, 2018
Beacon of HOPE Wellness Committee , Pine Island Eagle

Arthritis is America's #1 cause of disability stealing hopes and dreams from 1 in every 5 Americans (more than 50 million). It is the most common cause of joint pain in older adults.

No matter how severe your joint pain is or what joints are involved, there are things you can do to prevent further damage, to ease the pain, and to help you remain active. How you deal with arthritis can make a huge difference in your life.

There will be a lecture on this topic presented by Sharon Krispinsky, RN, BSN, CDE. She will discuss osteoarthritis, including foods that help with the inflammation caused by the condition. The lecture will explore the osteoarthritis risk factors, non-pharmacologic treatment and medications used to treat the condition. The program will also discuss a complimentary community program designed to teach individuals how to self-manage chronic pain conditions.

Krispinsky is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator. She received her BSN from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. She has been with Lee Health for over 25 years and has devoted most of her career to chronic disease management.

Join us for this informative class on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 11a.m. to noon.

Coming up Chronic Pain Workshop starting on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to noon and continuing for 6 weeks.
