Melanie Sue Voris (nee Lubbers)

Melanie Sue Voris (nee Lubbers), 77, of St. James City, FL (Pine Island) was granted her angel wings on November 18, 2018. Her final days were spent surrounded by family.

Melanie was born October 30, 1941, in Springfield, OH. She graduated from Springfield South High School and married James Voris in 1958. The two of them lived in many places during Jim's service in the Air Force, including California, Oregon, Africa, and Colorado before coming back to Springfield to raise a family.

Melanie attended Clark Tech College and received her RN nursing degree in 1976. She worked for many years in nursing homes before getting her Nursing Home Administrators license through Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor from Wittenberg University in 1985. The majority of her career was spent in nursing and nursing home administration. She was the administrator of the Odd Fellows Home in Springfield until 1987.

Melanie had a wandering and adventurous spirit who traveled extensively. She went on a sailing trip for a couple of months with people she just met, she went to China with a friend, she and Jim were couriers to South and Central America so they could travel. She and James retired to Pine Island, FL in 1994 but moved to Belize in 2003. They returned to Pine Island in 2010 when her health began to decline.

Melanie is survived by her husband, James Voris of Pine Island, her children, Chai Voris (Deborah Hunter) of Pine Island. FL, Rob Voris (Gabrielle) of Tucson, AZ, Attiga Wolfe (Keith) of St. Paris, OH, her grandchildren,Tristen Wolfe (Emily) of Fort Myers, FL, Cameron Wolfe (Alexis) of Dayton, OH, her great-grandchildren, Kynslee and Kolby Wolfe of Fort Myers, FL, Cormac & Rosaleen Wolfe of Dayton, OH, her siblings, Tom Lubbers (Rose) of Springfield, OH, Nicholas Lubbers (Vicci) of Springfield, OH, David Lubbers (Susan) of Grovetown, GA. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lubbers, mother, Ferne Lubbers, son, Victor Mark Voris, sister, Jennifer Garcia, and brother Peter Lubbers.

Melanie was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church at 7771 Stringfellow Rd, St. James City, FL on Pine Island. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec 22 at 11:00am.
