Help to complete our goal!

To the editor:

The tradition of laying wreaths to honor our veterans during the holiday season began in 1992, when the Worcester Wreath Company was stuck with a number of extra wreaths at the close of the holiday season.

Morrill Worcester, remembering a boyhood trip to sacred grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, donated 5,000 wreaths to be placed at the headstones of an older section of the cemetery.

What began as one man's gesture has now grown into a national movement - when in 2006 Wreaths Across America.Org was formed as a non-profit.

We are trying to sponsor as many wreaths as possible to Coral Ridge Cemetery for this event. There are almost 3,000 veterans at this one cemetery in Lee County. Please help us to tell these fine men and women that they are not forgotten.

We are asking for donations from businesses and organizations but also donations from individuals are extremely important and the donation is tax exempt. Wreaths are $15 apiece however any donations are accepted. Deadline for ordering wreaths is Nov. 11. Placing of the wreaths will be on Dec. 15 at 11 a.m., all are welcome to attend.

You can send your donations to Wreaths Across America, PO Box 325, St. James City, FL 33956. You can also sponsor a wreath by going on line to:

Remember our vets, honor their families and teach our children - by thanking a veteran.
