Vote for an idealist, Bill Taylor

October 10, 2018

To the editor:

In September of 2016 Cape Coral announced plans to annex land at the entrance to Matlacha Island. Community leaders from Matlacha and Pine Island asked Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass for help. Lee County had the legal right to veto the annexation.

Cecil Pendergrass did nothing. Instead, he glad-handed us, and the Lee County Commissioners hid behind their lawyers.

That is one reason why I am voting for Bill Taylor to defeat Cecil Pendergrass for the District 2 seat on the Lee County Commission. The second reason is that Bill Taylor is running because no one is protecting the natural resources which make our community a Shangri-La. Bill says, "I grew up here, in paradise. I love it here. And I'm frustrated that the people in power aren't doing everything they can to preserve and maintain the place where we live, work, and play."

One thing Bill will do is restore $100 million to the 20/20 Conservancy Fund which was stolen from the fund by the Lee County Commissioners over the past five years.
