Pine Island Elementary kindergarten screenings set

April 25, 2018
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

Pine Island Elementary will be conducting a mandatory screening for all kindergarten students enrolling for the 2018-19 school year. This screening will help our kindergarten staff better prepare our new students.

We are asking parents to fill out kindergarten registration papers prior to the screening dates. You can pick up the enrollment papers at the school between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Once you have enrolled your child, you can sign up for the screening - either May 11 or May 21. There will be a schedule of available times at the front office and the screening will last about an hour at Pine Island Elementary School. Children will go through a one-to-one screening with the kindergarten staff and then a computerized test. Results from the screening will be available at the front office May 29 or 30 for you to pick up.

Parents are also invited to "Step Up" day on May 18 at 9:30 a.m. Step Up day is an opportunity to visit the classroom and tour the campus. We remind parents that no teacher requests are permitted.

We hope you will take the time to register your child and sign up and attend the screening. This is a new district initiative and we feel it will help us better prepare for the new school year. We look forward to partnering with you and your child for a great first year. You can call the school at 239-283-0505 to schedule an appointment.
