Under beautiful sunny skies and cool breezes, the Greater Pine Island VFW held its first car show in several years on Saturday, March 24.

"My goal is to bring back what was once a very successful event," VFW Commander Austin White said. "There are so many classic cars on the island, everything from classics, to hot rods, to antique, restored and modified."

"The beer wagon had a brisk business all day and everyone ate hot dogs," White said. "We have something like 25 cars here today. The Best in Show went to John Trecker with his 1966 Super Sport."

In addition to the cars on display, the event also featured 50/50 drawing and more.

"I'd like to thank everyone who helped put this together," White said. "The best part is the money we raised goes into a special fund and 100 percent of the funds goes to the veterans."

The VFW Post is at 8150 Stringfellow Road, St. James City. For additional information, call 239-283-2277.
