St James City resident Fran Thomas has just released" Island Dream," the third book in her Calusa Town Tales series. The series is set in a quirky Florida town that bears a striking resemblance to Pine Island.

"Although I'm not a native Pine Islander, I have lived here for 20 years and was once the editor of the Eagle," Thomas said. "I've seen a lot of events unfold, so I have plenty of material to use as a starting point. Then I just embellish the details a wee bit."

The books offer a light-hearted look at life in a small town. Each includes a G-rated romance.

"With so much stress in the world nowadays, I wanted to write playful stories with happy endings," Thomas said.

In "Island Dream," Zumba instructor Isabella Ramos is about to open a restaurant. She meets Luc Girard, a newcomer to Calusa, alongside the main road as he is about to start painting a utility pole. That doesn't sit well with Izzy's brother, Deputy Rafe Ramos. The siblings were introduced in the second book of the series, "Southern Hospitality."

The attraction between Isabella and Luc is instantaneous, but the secret he is keeping threatens to ruin their developing relationship like a fallen souffle.

"Island Dream" is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle versions. Thomas will be signing books at Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens Saturday, Oct. 14, at the second annual Indie Author Day.
