Get rid of those dangerous trees

September 12, 2017
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

Driving along Stringfellow Road, I notice a lot of houses with huge trees around their houses. Now I know that most people know that in a bad wind storm or hurricane the chance is there for the tree to fall on the house and demolish it. But besides that, there's a chance that the roots will plug up the sewer line. Also, the roots could break the foundation of the house, break water lines, it just doesn't make any sense.

I don't know why insurance companies should have to pay for it when they're asking for it. It's a lot cheaper to have it cut down. In some cases, some have some king or queen palms that hang over the road. If one of the palms were to fall on a person walking by or a car going by, it could cause very bad damage.

So while you have a chance, please get rid of them, and this doesn't apply to Stringfellow Road only.

Wake up and smell the coffee, get rid of the trees before they get rid of you.
