Scalise and the 'heroes

June 21, 2017
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

Having lived in the Washington, D.C., area for over 50 years prior to moving to Pine Island, I've long been a fan of the Capitol Police as they represent law enforcement in a city full of visitors from around the world. They make us all look GOOD - they are professional, polished, polite and many look awesome on horseback.

One of Wednesday's "heroes" was a married lesbian police officer and Scalise may owe his life to her courageous performance of duty. HIS duty is to represent all Americans. His opposition to her right to marry, a right he enjoys without question, does not represent gay Americans.

Fortunately, Officer Crystal Griner serves everyone equally when she performs her duties. Hopefully, both fully recover from their injuries and receive comfort from their spouses.
