The Calusa Land Trust held its monthly work/fun party Saturday at the Dobbs Preserve. Volunteers began arriving before 9 a.m. on the cool morning to clear the trail of exotic invasive plants.

Dobbs Preserve is located towards St. James City off Sabal Avenue in the Tropical Point/Citrus streets subdivision.

The preserve contains about 76 acres situated along Matlacha Pass with a meandering trail through the wetlands leading towards an occupied osprey nest platform.

The work party included Ellen Ballard, Robert Ballard, Patti Binder, Ed Chapin, Laura Coglan, Bill Janda, Vicki Janda, Jerry Krall, Carolyn Murphey, Bob Romanoff, Alice Trant and Roger Wood.

The Calusa Land Trust is an all volunteer land conservancy and relies upon motivated and concerned Pine Islanders to assist in the stewardship of its preserved lands. Due to great turnouts at recent work parties, CLT now provides bottled water, soft drinks and light munchies.
