To the editor:
Tropical waves are mainly a product of the wind. The Holy Spirit is blowing in a new "WAVE" at Pine Island Community Church. We are in our 10th year and a low pressure system is blowing across the surface of our Island. God has blended together a new style of worship on Sunday Mornings, beginning March 19. Jason Bonham and Mickey Basil will lead us in worship and I will bring the Good News of the Gospel. We are calling our worship service, "The WAVE," which means We Affirm Victory Eternally. We believe God is raising up this fishing village to fish for men and women, to bring hearts into a relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe the people of Pine Island, Matlacha and Cape Coral are being blessed by God to live victorious lives. We have the power to fight and live victoriously over our burdens, diseases, heartaches and addictions.
We are the church that worships in a warehouse that sits on a back street. We are not a main street denomination but a non-denominational community church. We have spent the past 9 years working on our island, giving money to people who need it, raising money for Haiti and running a thrift store that gives unconditionally to the community. This year, as we go into our 10th year, we want to create a place for you. If you have ever felt unwanted, scared, judged, condemned or you just don't feel good enough to have a relationship with God, we are your church. As soon as you enter our doors your guilt and shame remain at the front door and you are seen as precious and loved by Jesus.
We want to work on our worship presence. We are a church for the un-churched. Our style is laid back and casual and everyone is welcome. Jason Bonham is going to lead our worship. He has led worship all over the country and has served in large churches in Ohio and Boston. Jason is anointed by God and the Holy Spirit soars out of him when he raises his voice to God. Jason has been blessed with a powerful gift of leadership in which he literally carries people by his voice to the cross of Jesus.
Mickey Basil has anointed fingers as they dance across the keyboard the presence of God is ushered into the room. He has played all over the world in stadiums and arenas with the Dolly West Band, Kenny Rogers, Barbara Mandrel and many others. His expertise as a musician is out of this world, but it's his dedication to serving Jesus that makes him the greatest of all musicians.
I began Pine Island Community Church 9 years ago and have given my heart and soul to the people of this Island. I am a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and have a huge heart for people and children. My desire is to lead our worship into the next generation. That long after I'm gone, our church is still bringing souls and hearts to Jesus.
We want to invite you to join us for a new worship experience Sunday, March 19, at 10 a.m. We are raising money for our Praise Team and will host a chili dinner for $7 a bowl and a silent auction immediately following the WAVE. Our desire is for you to experience the Holy Presence of Heaven.
