To the editor:

The Friends of the Pine Island Library would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the Book Sale. This event is held twice a year at the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church. Thirty-five Friendsand friends of Friendshelped set up our book sale and/or helped on book sale day. We want to give a huge thanks to the young team of volunteers, SAS and SAS Teen Spirit, from the Beacon of HOPE. When they came to help pack up all the leftover books, there was a big round of applause. They helped make the packing and cleaning up a speedy process.

As part of the book sale, we also have a drawing for donated gift baskets. Here are the donors and winners - congratulations! We also give a big thank you to Winn-Dixie for donating large paper bags for our shoppers!

The Party Time Basket donated by Bonnie Potter and Island Acres, won by Roxanne Whitney.

The Firebird Orchid donated by Cathy Grimes with decorative pot donated by Donna Schneider of Fruitscapes, won by Melody Potter-Zimmerman.

A Valentine of Gift Cards were donated by several Friend members; Tropical Hair Gallery donated a gift card as well. This was won by Sally Lamberg.

The Breakfast Bonanza donated by Ellen Ballard and Barb Riordan, was won by Judy Dann.

Time for Two basket was donated by Judy Hopkins and won by Judy Dempster.

And to all of you who came to re-stock your bookshelves, we thank you. We opened at 9 a.m. and by 9:30, 150 Pine Islanders had crowded in the doors. By the time we finished up at 1 p.m., almost 450 people had filled up bags with books. Your generous support will help us continue to provide great programming at the Pine Island Library.

Our next book sale will be held in early December. If you are cleaning off your shelves and have books to donate, please drop them off at the library. We will take good care of them!
