Two days a week, you can find Dr. Nicole Nichols working on sick animals at the Animal Refuge Center on Old Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers.
On Saturdays and Mondays you will now find her at the new veterinary clinic she has opened in Cape Coral at the Coral Shore Shops at 3015 Pine Island Road, #106.
Islandside Animal Hospital opened a little later than expected due to a permitting snag, but it had a soft opening recently for people in the western part of the city who want to keep their dogs and cats happy and healthy.

Nichols said there was a desperate need for a veterinary clinic in that part of the Cape.
"There are lots of pets out there and a need for a clinic out here," Nichols said. "It's better that they not have to go to the emergency clinic, which can be a bit expensive,"
Nichols, who was raised in Fort Myers, started her career in the Orlando area for about six years before moving back to the area in 2015.
"I came back because my father-in-law was sick and I started doing relief work, which is a substitute vet, and I filled in where there was a need," Nichols said.
Nichols found out about ARC and started working there two days a week. While rewarding, it is not full time.
"I love it because it's my favorite type of thing doing rescue work. But I can't do it forever, so I thought it was time to open a clinic, so I have someone filling in for me when I'm not there," said Nichols, who will continue at ARC.
Islandside provides all veterinary procedures including vaccinations, dental cleanings, surgeries and medications for cats and dogs.
It is not a large animal practice for other animals, such as horses, Nichols said.
Clinic services are also provided by Dr. Joshua Hatch, who is there Tuesdays through Fridays.
Islandside is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Nichols said the later hours are for those who come home from work and discover they have a sick pet.
