Sweeney's SOS is inviting everyone to its grand opening this Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The grand opening also highlights new expanded business hours. Jennifer Jennings, executive director of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, will "cut the ribbon" kicking off the all day event.
"Sweeney's SOS is a soap and skin care business," owner Patti Sweeney said. "I didn't aspire to be a soap maker, it just kind of came out of nowhere. I knew I didn't want to work a crummy job, live in a crummy apartment, I wanted something more so in 2008 I worked at a small mom-and-pop soap-making business - that's when I decided to open my own business. The following year I opened a shop at the Flamingo Island Flea Market in Bonita Springs and stayed there 4 years when I got tired of the flea market atmosphere. Fortunately I had developed a list of wonderful repeat customers who could order directly online."
Sweeney makes soaps for health and wellness that are made with food grade vegetable oils in a cold process.
"I use only the finest quality blends of coconut, palm, extra virgin olive and castor oils," Sweeney said. "These oils allow for a mild bar of soap with excellent lathering, moisturizing and cleansing abilities. I don't use any animal fats, synthetic dyes or preservatives in our homemade soaps."
Sweeney offers a wide selection of soaps: Anise, Charcoal, Coffee, Lavender Oatmeal, Lavender Shea, Lavender Tea Tree, Lemon Grass, Mint Mist, Orange Clove with Oats, Patchouli, Pure and Scentless and Refresh Mint.
Everyone that stops by gets during the grand opening will have a chance to win one of three door prizes. There will also be a raffle and give-aways all day long.
"There will also be a free gift with every $25 purchase and food plus drinks," Sweeney said.
New store 'in-season' hours are Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Monday and Tuesday by appointment
Sweeney's SOS is located one half mile north of the four-way stop on Stringfellow Road at 10954 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia.
