Carrie Barnhill Grainger is the new manager at Barnhill Seafood Barket in Matlacha at 4573 Pine Island Road.
The small market, on the corner of Pine Island Road and Matlacha Road, has been at that location for many years.
"This was a wholesale market until my brother, Eddie Jr., relocated the wholesale side of the business to the industrial park," Grainger said. "Now all the processing is done over there and I manage the retail store. I started managing the store on Jan. 1.
Carrie Barnhill Grainger and daughter Kendra Barnhill.
"My maiden name is Barnhill and the Barnhills have been on Pine Island for four generations," Grainger said. "One of the family stories is that my grandfather 'pushed' the road down through St. James City."
The Barnhill family is a fishing family.
"My father has two stone crab boats and my brother has a stone crab boat and nearly all, probably more than 90 percent of the stone crabs, comes from my families boats.
"Our goal is to offer the finest and freshest seafood anywhere," Graniger said. "Everything is fresh from the boat and includes all the local fish, such as grouper, mullet, flounder and sheepshead. We also have stone crabs that we sell at the lowest prices in the area plus shrimp, oysters, tuna, salmon and sea scallops. I can fill orders for almost anything.
"We make local deliveries on Wednesdays and Saturdays," Grainger said. "We also have a website where you can read all about Barnhill Fisheries and contact us via email."
Hours at the Barnhill Fish Market are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day Monday through Sunday.
