Lois Marie (Holton) Conatser, 84, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2016, in Bokeelia, Florida. She was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Fennville, Michigan, to Cecil and Frances (Shultz) Holton.
She attended Fennville High School in Fennville, Michigan, graduating in 1950. She met her husband, Eunice (E.C.) Conatser in Battle Creek, Michigan, where she attended cosmetology school. They were married 47 years, raising their family in Holland, Michigan. She and Eunice both worked more than 30 years for General Electric. After retirement, they traveled the U.S. extensively and enjoyed their property on Swan Lake in Allegan County, Michigan. Her passions included sewing, crafts and most of all camping.
After her husband passed in 1998, Lois moved to Pine Island, Florida, to be near her son, Tim Conatser of Bokeelia. Her daughter, Sue Conatser, of Elmhurst, Illinois, also has a home on the island. Together with their spouses, they enjoyed sunsets, family dinners and being by the water. Lois was a member of Pine Island Community Church and volunteered for Hope Hospice of Cape Coral and the Salvation Army. She was known in her Bokeelia neighborhood for always smiling and waving at passing walkers and cyclists, and always motioning to motorists to slow down. In 2013, Lois moved to the Windsor of Cape Coral, but she visited Pine Island every Sunday.
She is survived by son Timothy (Joyce) Conatser; daughter Sue (Tom) Conatser-Terry; granddaughters Roxann (Mike) Visser and Nicole Conatser; grandson Graham Conatser; great grandsons Nicolaas and Isaak Visser; sisters Virginia Eastman and Sandy Gant. The family plans a private memorial at a later date. Donations in Lois' name can be made to Hope Healthcare Services at www.hopehospice.org.
Lois is predeceased by her husband, Eunice Conatser, son John Conatser, sister Hazel Eastman, and brother Larry Holton.
