'Dinner and a Movie' rally benefits F.I.S.H

More than 50 Mini Coopers arrived at C.W. Fudge in Matlacha Saturday evening as part of a rally to benefit Fellow Islanders Sending Help (F.I.S.H.).

Minis lined up 'drive-in' style at Capt'n Cons in Bokeelia.

"We organize these rallies to benefit local charities in Southwest Florida," Jerry Hancock. motoring advisor) at Mini of Fort Myers, said. "We will be here in Matlacha raising donations for an hour or so before proceeding to Capt'n Cons in Bokeelia."

"We're always happy to help out F.I.S.H.," William Tidball, co-owner of CW Fudge, said. "F.I.S.H. has been helping people on Pine Island for a very long time and we're happy to be a part of this Mini Cooper invasion."

Last year F.I.S.H. answered and assisted 1,648 calls, provided more than $49,000 in emergency financial assistance to 193 clients and loaned people in need 300 pieces of mobility equipment.

"This rally will help our organization so much," F.I.S.H. President Dianne Higgins said. "We really appreciate the effort this takes to get so many people together to make this happen."

The Minis left CW Fudge after a short stay for Capt'n Cons where the drivers had dinner. The Minis were lined up in the field next door "drive-in style" where a large inflatable movie screen was set up.
