Daddy Mack Blues Band to perform at Bert's Oct. 21

October 14, 2015
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

"When people say, 'Memphis blues ain't what it used to be,' they haven't heard the Daddy Mack Blues Band"

- The Hershel Freeman

Agency website.

"Daddy" Mack Orr's voice has been compared to the biting vocals of Albert King, and his latest album has climbed the blues charts, but Orr still works a day job to pay the bills. Mack's Auto Repair is on Jackson Avenue in Memphis, Tenn.

Orr has been a part of the Memphis blues scene for decades - originally playing in the legendary group, The Fieldstones. On the new album, Blues Central, the The Daddy Mack Blues Band delivers its blues - real, raw and funky.

Led by Orr on lead guitar and vocals, the band is said to have enough grit, sweat and passion to get any crowd moving.

The band is described as "down-home" and one of the best blues bands in the country.

Since 1998, the Daddy Mack Blues Band has been the house band at the Center For Southern Folklore on Beale Street in Memphis, where thousands of tourists from all corners of the world have experienced their natural and soulful musical blend. It has also toured the country, from Huntsville to Las Vegas, and played in Europe. Rock legends Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have even joined the group onstage.

Daddy Mack Blues Band will be performing on Pine Island Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Bert's Bar and Grill, 4271 Pine Island Road, N.W. For additional information, call 239-282-3232.
