Lee County has issued a "Notice to Surrounding Property owners" near the former Cracker Cafe/Flatheads business located at 13924 Stringfellow Road on Pine Island.

The owner of the building and lot -- listed on the notice as Gary Muller - has requested a rezoning for 1+ acres of the property from Agriculture (AG-2) and General Commercial (GC) to General Commercial (GC), and Special Exception for outdoor seating with consumption on premises (COP) of beer and wine in conjunction with a restaurant with outdoor entertainment per Lee County Land Development Code 34-1264.

A public hearing on the matter will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, in the Lee County Hearing Examiner's Meeting Room, 1500 Monroe St., Fort Myers.

According to the notice, islanders must appear in person, or through council, or an authorized agent and provide testimony, legal argument or other evidence at the hearing to become a participant with the right to address the Board of County Commissioners.

After the Hearing Examiner has made a written recommendation on the requests, the case will be scheduled for a public hearing before the Board of County Commissioners who will review the recommendation and make a final decision.

Those who did not appear before the Hearing Examiner or otherwise have become a participant for that case in which you wish to testify, the law does not permit you to address the Board of County Commissioners.
