2018 Maso Canali Pinot Grigio

July 24, 2020 - Norman Bentley

In the Italian Wine World, Trentino, Italy is known as the birthplace of Pinot Grigio, and it is there, where Maso Canali has been making wine since 1893. The 2018 vintage is a good one, and quite representative of both the region and the grape.

The nose is citrusy and floral. The flavors highlight the citrus, and also ripe peach, nectarine, and a touch of Chardonnay, which is added for character. The finish is clean, and begs for another sip The alcohol content is 12.5%, and Norm's score is 89.

A bottle of Maso Canali was perfect for our grill-roasted chicken, slow-cooked, with a rub of secret spices, and done to a golden brown. The 2018 Maso Canali Pinot Grigio is a near perfect summertime wine.

score: 89

price: $15 - $20
